This September I started university at Nottingham Trent, studying Fashion Communication and Promotion and so far I am loving it, it is the perfect course for me as it combines the creative element of fashion with some of the business and journalism side thrown in as well which is exactly what I wanted. Our first task of the semester was a street style project in which we got put into groups and we had to photograph people in Nottingham we thought were dressed in an interesting and quirky kind of way, I had worked in street style before and was excited by the thought of the task! To give us some inspiration our lecturers took us to a local cinema to watch the film 'Bill Cunningham New York' which is a film based around New York street style photographer Bill Cunningham and his views and opinions on fashion and street wear. I didn't know what to expect from the film but after I was fully inspired by his down to earth views and creative flair when it came to photographing street style, it definitely gave me ideas on how to approach our brief and how to approach future careers and opportunities. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the film and would definitely watch it again and recommend it to people who are interested in similar career paths.
