Marc by Marc Jacobs, or know as its known as MBMJ is always one of the highlights of NYFW for me as Marc Jacobs is probably one of my top five favourite designers because of his extravagant shows for Louis Vuitton but also because of his kooky yet chic designs for his own label. This season the house was taken over by new creative director Katie Hillier and new design director Luella Bartley which definitely gave the line a more girl power feel. I loved this seasons mixture of very put together formal looks towards the beginning with collars, shirts and skirts, and the more shabby chic look towards the end with oversized knits and layers of pleated tulle.
The bags were quite small, and a large quilted pattern, and had quite a boxy shape which reminded me of the bags at Alexander Wang (new trend of the small boxy black bag?) What I thought was interesting about the styling was the winter boots the models sported in either black and white, it was an unusual touch considering the clothes but I thought it gave quite a masculine look and gave more of a power feel to the models.
The hair was really interesting as i'd never really seen anything like this on the runway before, but the hair was tightly braided into two long plaits, which gave a very young school girl like feel to the look. The makeup was kept very minimal apart from eyes which were tightly rimmed with a black liner which contrasted with the innocence of the hair and gave that girl power feel to the look.
