Flashback Friday - White Mischief
My all time favourite Vogue feature is one named 'White Mischief' which featured in Vogues May 2011 issue. The photographer who is also one of my favourites (Tim Walker) creates a perfect combination of fantasy and make believe with a slight tone of depression and loneliness, which creates an interesting narrative to the feature as normally the women in vogues features are strong and confideent. I love when photo shoots create a fantasy land for you to dissapear into as it is such fun compared to the regular studio shoot. Also the clean and simple colour palette of white, cream and grey contrasted against the shocking props such as leopards and abandoned buildings/ swimming pools which gave a nice shocking touch to the images. The stylisyt on the shoot Kate Phelan did an amazing job, I particurally liked the Alexander McQueen feather dress she used in the backless shot as it just added such drama and sensuality to the shot which otherwise could have been quite boring. My favourite shots are the abandoned swimming pool shot and the shot featuring the Alexander McQueen feather dress as they both have such different feelings but both create drama and really create a story for you.
